Custom Engraving to Celebrate, Honor, and Remember

— from barrels to memorials and everything in between.

Our Story

It all started with great friends and too much wine — if there is such a thing as too much wine. No, that’s not the promo for the next great movie (although it could be). Rather, it’s the true story of how our business began.

When we relocated back to Rochester in 2007, we were lucky enough to purchase a home in the most amazing neighborhood — the kind where neighbors quickly turn into family. One night, while drinking wine, the conversation turned to winemaking because we were in fact sipping some spectacular wine that my neighbor had made himself. I was instantly intrigued by the process and impressed with the end product and before I knew it, my first batch of homemade wine was in the books. Several batches later our home was filled with more than 100 bottles of wine that needed time to “age” fully.

Bob was less than thrilled with the random stacks of wine bottles taking over the house. So he turned to the all-knowing internet for a solution. When a wine barrel bottle rack popped up in his feed, he thought, “I can make that".” A few months later on Christmas morning 2010, I unwrapped what would become the very first Barrel35 creation — a beautifully handcrafted half-barrel wine holder. Everyone who saw the barrel wanted to know where we got it and how they could get one. My gift quickly grew from a one off solution to storing my wine, into a full blown business that has allowed us to meet the best people and to support some wonderful causes.

Today

Fast forward to today. To ensure we can meet and exceed customer expectations we have grown into Blue Paw Engraving, a full-service laser engraving company. Whiskey and wine barrels are still at the heart of what we do, but they’re just the beginning of what we are now capable of. We offer custom designed engraving on any medium and product you can imagine. Whether you are looking to engrave stone, brick, glass, granite, or leather we’ve got you covered — from concept to creation. If you can dream it, we want to engrave it.

Why the Name “Blue Paw”?

In 2013, Bob proudly became the first probation K9 officer in New York State and K9 Bishop exploded into our lives. If you have met a Malinois you understand that analogy. She fast became not only Bob’s work partner but a true extension of our family. Bishop has touched our lives in ways we can’t describe with words alone. She protected Bob in the field, pulled thousands of pounds of drugs off the streets and brought smiles to the faces of many through high school education programs and just being her goofy self. With how she has changed our lives and with many officers and military in our family, it seemed only fitting to honor that spirit and dedication through the blue paw name.

Our Vision

At Blue Paw Engraving, our vision is simple:

  • Celebrate & Commemorate by helping our customers mark milestones, honor achievements, and create keepsakes that last a lifetime.

  • Honor & Remember by paying tribute to those who have served, both in uniform and in our lives, with designs that carry meaning and respect.

  • Serve with Passion by approaching every project with the same drive, loyalty, and integrity that inspired our name.

We are honored to be part of your stories — and we can’t wait to help you bring them to life.

Giving Back to the K9 Community

At Blue Paw Engraving, supporting the K9 community isn’t just a mission — it’s personal. Mark-9 and Retired Paws were there for us when our retired K9 required major surgery. Without them, surgery would not have been possible and Bishop would not be enjoying a happy, healthy retirement today.

Now, it’s our turn to give back. To that end, a portion of every purchase will go to these organizations to help continue their amazing work — providing assistance for retired K9 officers. Our goal is to ensure that other handlers and families in situations like ours can receive the same support and keep their k9 partners healthy and happy.
